Passive Safety & V2X
Passive safety validation depends on precise deployment systems, reliable test tanks, synchronized analysis tools, and biofidelic dummies or impactors that represent the human body in crash and pedestrian impact scenarios.
This page now covers seven requested product groups: SureFire deployment system, airbag inflator and ballistics tanks, cold gas inflation, analysis software and data management, Kistler crash test dummies, JASTI crash test dummies, and the FLEX-PLI pedestrian legform system.
Where They Fit
Run inflator, deployment, and cushion-development workflows with controlled, repeatable test systems.
Link high-speed video, sensor data, and test records into one evaluation workflow for stronger decisions.
Use crash test dummies and anthropomorphic devices to evaluate occupant response in controlled impact programs.
Assess lower-leg injury behavior and external impact performance with dedicated legform systems.
Product 01
Microsys describes the SureFire Airbag Deployment System as its oldest and most widely used product, with nearly 400 installations, commonly used for lot acceptance testing, conformance of production, development testing, and DV/PV work. The system integrates airbag firing, high-speed video imaging, sensor logging, photographic lighting, squib power supplies, safety interlocks, configurable deployment software, and PowerPlay analysis software.
The official page also lists adjustable squib pulse controls, up to 8 squib fire supplies, synchronized playback of video and sensor data, traceability-system integration, and database support. ATS can position SureFire as a highly integrated deployment platform for fast, repeatable, and production-ready airbag validation.
Product 02
The Microsys page states that their inflator and ballistics test tanks lead the industry in features and productivity. The iTank includes a submarine-style door for easy access, a water-cooling jacket for rapid return to ambient wall temperature, and operation as either a standalone system or in conjunction with the SureFire inflator test system.
Reference features include volume accuracy of plus/minus 1.5%, 200 PSI pressure rating, ASME certification, stainless-steel construction, optional mobile stand rotation from -90° to +90°, and numerous available sizes from 10L to 150L plus custom sizes. This makes the tanks well suited for inflator characterization and controlled ballistics testing across multiple airbag programs.
Product 03
Microsys explains that its cold gas airbag inflation system uses compressed gas and a proprietary ultra-fast valve to generate pressure curves that replicate airbag inflator performance, from very fast side and curtain applications to high-volume passenger-side airbags. The page says pyrotechnic, hybrid, and compressed-gas inflators can all be replaced by the cold gas system for development work.
It also notes single-stage and dual-stage curve generation, valve opening within 2 milliseconds, gas quantity adjustment from 0.5 to 8 moles, and speed adjustment across the full known inflator range. ATS can therefore present this as a strong R&D tool for airbag module development, cushion fold experimentation, and instrument-panel or airbag-cushion studies.
Product 04
Microsys identifies PowerPlay as its analysis software for video and sensor data, with standard features and optional toolkits for crash analysis, multi-window movie creation, and more. The official page describes synchronized playback of video and data streams, side-by-side comparison of multiple videos and data windows, support for SureFire TST and industry formats, arithmetic processing, SAE J211 filters, crash-analysis calculations, and MS Excel report generation.
Because SureFire integrates directly with PowerPlay, ATS can position this category as the analysis and data-management backbone for airbag deployment, inflator, and crash-lab workflows where synchronized evidence, comparison, and reporting are critical.
Product 05
Kistler’s crash test dummy category page highlights a range that includes THOR-50M, WorldSID-50M, and CTS biofidelic crash test dummies. The page specifically notes that the THOR-50M represents a complete solution including the crash test dummy and, through built-in DTI technology, the entire measuring chain, providing high reliability, high-quality data, and flexibility.
ATS can therefore position Kistler dummies as premium anthropomorphic test devices for frontal, side-impact, and more advanced injury-measurement programs where integrated measurement quality is a major requirement.
Product 06
JASTI’s anthropomorphic test device page lists front-impact dummies such as Hybrid-III 50th, Hybrid-III 5th Female, Hybrid-III 95th Large Male, Hybrid-III 3YO Child, and Thor50, along with side-impact dummies including ES-2/ES-2re, SID-IIs, and WorldSID 50th Male. JASTI states these dummies are manufactured and certified in Japan to specifications under CFR 49 Part 572.
The site also notes that the company can modify dummy parts, assemble sensors on requested parts, and support special requirements. ATS can use this section to present JASTI as a flexible source for certified crash-test dummies and customized ATD support.
Product 07
The direct ATS India page was not accessible from the browser tool, so I used JASTI’s official product listings to verify the FLEX-PLI GTR product family. JASTI’s product index explicitly lists FLEX-PLI GTR under leg impactors, and their broader company pages position these products within pedestrian protection testing.
ATS can therefore present the FLEX PLI System as a lower-leg pedestrian impactor used to assess pedestrian injury mechanisms and external vehicle safety performance in regulatory and R&D pedestrian-protection programs.
Program Benefits
SureFire, iTank, and cold gas systems support deployment and inflator work, while PowerPlay helps turn the results into synchronized evidence.
Kistler and JASTI dummies enable biofidelic crash and sled studies for frontal, side, and special-use safety programs.
FLEX-PLI extends the workflow beyond occupant safety into external injury assessment and regulation-led pedestrian testing.
Support
SureFire is used for integrated airbag deployment testing with synchronized firing, video, sensor logging, safety interlocks, and analysis workflows.
They provide a controlled pressure-rated environment for inflator characterization and ballistic testing across many airbag sizes.
It lets engineers reproduce inflator pressure curves for development work without relying on pyrotechnic or full production inflators in every cycle.
It synchronizes video and sensor data, supports crash calculations, comparison workflows, and report generation for safer and faster engineering decisions.
They provide biofidelic human surrogates and structured measurement chains for occupant injury assessment in controlled crash programs.
It is used in pedestrian protection programs to assess lower-leg injury behaviour and external vehicle impact performance.
